ASHLEY BROWN is pleased to be the Mr. & Mrs. Parker B. Condie, Sr. Star Performer for The Sound of Music. She recently finished her run in Los Angeles in the title role in Disney’s national tour of Mary Poppins where she garnered a 2010 Garland award for Best Performance in a Musical. She originated the title role of Mary Poppins on Broadway for which she received Outer Critics, Drama League and Drama Desk nominations for Best Actress. Other Broadway credits include Belle in Beauty and the Beast and the national tour of Disney’s On The Record. Ashley appeared at The Muny in Side by Side by Sondheim, Cinderella and Crazy for You during the 2003 season, and Annie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Guys and Dolls and Meet Me in St. Louis in 2004. She has performed with many orchestras in the past several years including the Boston Pops (with Keith Lockhart), the New York Philharmonic (with Marvin Hamlisch), the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at Disney Hall (with John Mauceri), the Pittsburgh Symphony opposite Shirley Jones (with Marvin Hamlisch), the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall (twice), the Cincinnati Pops (with Erich Kunzel), the Indianapolis Symphony (twice with Jack Everly), and the BBC orchestra opposite Josh Groban. Future projects include concerts at the Kennedy Center and with the NY Pops, Detroit, Fort Worth, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, Memphis and Houston orchestras. She also recently made her cabaret debut to great acclaim at the renowned Feinstein’s at the Regency in New York City. Her long-awaited debut album of American Songbook standards was recently released nationwide earlier this year on Ghostlight/Sony. She will be starring at the La Jolla playhouse this fall in a production of Limelight based on the life of Charlie Chaplin. Other starring roles at The Muny include Mrs. Smith in Meet Me In St. Louis (2009), Golde in Fiddler on the Roof (2008), Anna in The King and I (2006, 1999, 1994), Eliza in My Fair Lady (1996), Guenevere in Camelot (1995) and Nellie in South Pacific (1992, with Howard Keel), as well as Mrs. Smith in Meet Me In St. Louis (2004) and Gladys in The Pajama Game (2007). Last season, she opened in a new musical, Winesburg Ohio, at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre. She also performed in that same work at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Broadway credits include: On the Town; Kiss Me, Kate; Into the Woods; Nine; Wonderful Town; Young Frankenstein. Off-Broadway credits include roles for the Public Theatre, the New York Shakespeare Festival and New York City Center’s Encores! Series. JAMES ANTHONY is making his 38th Muny appearance after appearing earlier this season as Mr. Welch in Damn Yankees. Having performed in more than 230 productions, his favorites include: Sunday in the Park with George (Jules) and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Sheriff Dodd), for which he received a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination. In New York, he created the character of the Philosopher in the off-Broadway production of The Crock of Gold, and was seen on the daytime serial One Life to Live. JOHN CONTINI is a 20-year Muny veteran of nearly 50 shows, and has been a member of AEA for 30 years. He is a Kevin Kline Awardwinner as Best Actor for his performance in Barrymore and a two-time Kevin Klinenominee for Best Actor in A Walk In The Woods and Best Director for Molly Sweeney, all with the Avalon Theatre Company, where he is Artistic Associate Director. He was recently seen as Frank Elgin in The Country Girl. Local credits include: Shakespeare Festival, Stages St. Louis, New Jewish Theatre, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, the Black Rep, St. Louis Actors’ Studio Theatre. Some of John’s favorite roles at The Muny include Harry in Guys and Dolls, Pop in The Pajama Game and Gypsy, and the Constable in Fiddler on the Roof. MATTHEW HOWARD is thrilled to be back at The Muny. He has performed in the Muny Kids touring company for the past three years. The Muny is Maria’s favorite thing and she is thrilled to be playing the role of Gretl! This is her second year on the Muny stage after debuting in Annie and The Music Man in 2009. Earlier this summer, she was in the ensemble of Beauty and the Beast. She loves performing with the Muny Kids summer and winter touring company—this is her second year. She just completed 3rd grade at Community School and thanks all of her teachers there. Additional thanks to her awesome performing arts teachers: Lisa Casciola, Peggy Plesia, Carrie Houk and to Krupinski Academy of Dance. She also enjoys gymnastics, swimming, soccer, and piano. JULIA SCHWEIZER is delighted to be back on the Muny stage! She appeared as July in Annie (2009) and has also appeared in Muny productions of Beauty and the Beast (2010), My Fair Lady (2008), 90 Years of Muny Magic (2008), Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat (2007) and The Sound of Music (2005). Julia appeared this past season as Esther Jane in A Christmas Story at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. Other credits: Peter Pan and Seussical The Musical with Spotlight productions. Julia is a member of the Muny Kids touring company. She studies dance at Krupinski Academy, voice with Sheila Dugan and is a student at Ascension School. ELIZABETH TEETER is thrilled to return to the Muny stage this summer. After making her theatrical debut at The Muny last summer as Tootie in Meet Me in St. Louis, she opened this season as a youth chorus member in Beauty and the Beast where she shared the stage with her twin brother, Charlie, and her silly dad, Lara! A third grader at Bristol Elementary School in Webster Groves, Elizabeth excels at reading, writing, art and all things creative. She studies piano with Linda Casper, tap with Lara Teeter, voice with Kelly Smith and ballet with Mimi MacDonald. Elizabeth thanks the Muny artistic staff for giving her such wonderful opportunities and the backstage crew for always keeping things running with smiles and laughter!
